inside-out house
full home renovation
valencia
This family home passes to the next generation and is completely renovated to give it a second life and adapt it to a new way of living.
The original layout belonged to another era: a heavily compartmentalised house, with the bedrooms next to the entrance, a long corridor as its spine and, at the very end, the living room and the kitchen, separated from each other.
The project proposes turning it around. The day area moves next to the entrance hall and opens up into a single space that brings together the living room, dining room and kitchen. The night area, more private, withdraws to the back. The corridor is reduced to a minimum and stops being a passage to become part of the home.
A continuous floor runs through the whole home and unifies the space. White walls, with curved corners and arched openings, soften the boundaries between rooms and let natural light travel through the house from one end to the other. Against this serene backdrop, contemporary furniture, selected piece by piece, completes the atmosphere.
The house changes hands. And its meaning, too.
